I've always had an interest in anatomy and physiology, from the days of helping my father butcher in our garage. I must have been 12 when he insisted I try to move the leg via a pair of pliers. I remember clamping onto a tendon, and being amazed that my pulling flexed the joints, like a very odd puppet.
Years later, I found myself teaching my son about the human body, via The Bodies Exhibition in Manhattan's South Street Seaport. (Unfortunately, the exhibit was destroyed during superstorm Sandy) We created, if I do say so myself, the best 5th Grade Human Body Science Project ever. My son was proud of all he had learned - especially when his teacher surprise tested him, because she did not believe he could possibly know all the facts listed. (He did!)
In 1991, I graduated from The New Center as a Massage Therapist. My thirst for learning continues to this day. Beyond mandatory bodywork classes, I am passionate about the workings of the human body. Everyday I find myself reading, or saving, or sharing information. My computer is overflowing... it can't take any more... hence this blog. I felt it was a great way to archive, organize and share.
If you would like to know more about my Massage Therapy credentials, head over to www.humankneads.com.
Beyond my human body obsession, I dabble in photography, bird-watching, gardening, anything nature, our rescue puppy, my kids, keeping my Peter Pan husband out of trouble, trying to find the funny... and writing about it all. I'm a wannabe storyteller. If I've piqued your curiosity, you can find my blog at www.thewordswhisper.com.
